Gen.G cruise past Hanwha Life again to reach 2-0 at Worlds 2026
The reigning LCK champions dismantled MSI winners Hanwha Life Esports in the Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage, extending a dominant head-to-head record and moving one win from the Knockout Stage.

Gen.G have won their opening two matches of the Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage, beating Mid-Season Invitational champions Hanwha Life Esports in Round 2 to stay unbeaten in Seoul's home tournament.
The match kicked off at 23:10 UK time on Saturday, with Gen.G finishing 22 kills to 7 and holding roughly a 16,000 gold lead once Hanwha Life's Nexus fell, according to GosuGamers, as reported by Esports Insider.
As the higher seed, Gen.G had first pick in the draft phase, while Hanwha Life opted to play from the blue side. British caster Medic was part of the English-language broadcast team alongside Canadian commentator Jatt.
The win follows Gen.G's Round 1 victory over Invictus Gaming. Hanwha Life had started their campaign with a win over Top Esports before running into Gen.G.
Hanwha Life arrived at Worlds as the LCK's second seed, but their recent meetings with Gen.G have been one-sided. Gen.G took the LCK Grand Final 3-1 on 13 September, a result that delivered a seventh league title for the organisation and earned Ruler the Finals MVP award.
Beyond that final, Hanwha Life have also fallen to Gen.G three times in LCK play since early August, with the sole bright spot in that stretch a 2-1 win at the KeSPA Cup on 10 August.
The Elo power rankings reflect that gap. Gen.G sit fourth globally with a rating of 1860 and a 117-30 record, while Hanwha Life are twelfth on 1800 with a 112-47 record.
Notably absent from the bracket entirely is Fnatic, whose Worlds qualification hopes ended when GIANTX beat them 1-2 in the LEC Summer regular season on 30 August.
The Swiss Stage format features 16 teams across five rounds, with three wins sending a side through to the Knockout Stage and three losses eliminating them. Fixtures that settle qualification or elimination are played as best-of-three series under Fearless Draft rules, while every other round is a single game.
That means Gen.G's next outing will be a best-of-three. They face LYON, who also reached 2-0 by defeating Karmine Corp in Round 2. Elsewhere, Movistar KOI matched that record by beating CTBC Flying Oyster and now meet Dplus KIA in the other 2-0 fixture, after Dplus KIA themselves beat T1 in Round 2.
Hanwha Life have little time to recover. They face Invictus Gaming, who beat Team Secret Whales in Round 2, at 12:00 CDT on Sunday.
The Swiss Stage concludes on 31 October, with the Knockout Stage running from 3 to 14 November and the grand final scheduled for Saturday 14 November in Brooklyn. The event carries a $5 million prize pool, with $1 million reserved for the champion.
Gen.G's immediate focus is their Round 3 clash with LYON on Sunday 25 October at 17:00 CDT, a result that would confirm their place in the Knockout Stage.
