Astralis set to lose cmtry for Singapore Major after FUT's Bucharest exit
FUT's quarter-final defeat to Nemiga has left Nikita "cmtry" Samolotov bound to his old roster under Valve's rules, pushing Astralis towards fielding a stand-in at the PGL Major.

FUT's quarter-final loss to Nemiga at PGL Masters Bucharest has effectively settled where Nikita "cmtry" Samolotov stands for the PGL Major Singapore, according to Esports.net News.
The result leaves cmtry tied to FUT's Valve Regional Standings roster with no further matches scheduled before the Major's invite cut-off, meaning Astralis will likely have to field a stand-in in his place unless Valve intervenes or FUT compete in another event first.
The clash stems from Valve's rule that a player who appears on two rosters remains bound to the one he was tracked on for VRS purposes. Under the Major's supplemental rulebook, invitations go only to intact rosters, and any roster that is not intact sees its invite pass to the next-highest-ranked side. The lineup a team registers must also match the one that originally earned the invite, with only one coach allowed as an addition.
Two separate transfers created the situation. FUT signed AWPer Álvaro "SunPayus" García on 1 October after G2 benched him, but had no events scheduled before Bucharest began on 24 October. Twelve days after signing SunPayus, on 13 October, Astralis brought in siuhy and cmtry to replace HooXi and jabbi, with cmtry earmarked to switch from AWP duty to a rifle role.
cmtry arrives at this impasse on the back of recent success, having won his first MVP award when FUT took the title at PGL Bucharest in April 2026.
Astralis have already moved to cover the gap. The club recalled jabbi on 27 October as a stand-in for the remainder of Stake Ranked Episode 5 in Barcelona, saying he had come "straight from the airport at very little notice." Jabbi is now the probable option to deputise for cmtry in Singapore.
One route remains to free cmtry from FUT's roster. HLTV has reported that a fifth match for SunPayus would be enough to place him on FUT's VRS roster in cmtry's stead. FUT could secure that match by entering an event open to all teams, with EPIC 49 in Kettering cited as one possibility, though the organisation has given no indication it intends to do so.
The uncertainty around FUT's own roster has drawn wider attention on social media. Commentator Oleksandr Petryk noted on X that "both jL and SunPayus will be guaranteed Major stickers if they LOSE in tomorrow's FUT vs. Vitality game," adding that a Vitality loss would see jL play five games at PGL instead of apEX and become a new Vitality core player featured on the Singapore stickers.
Registering SunPayus as a substitute would allow FUT to field him at the Major under the existing framework. cmtry has no equivalent mechanism available to him with Astralis.
The decision will shape a 32-team Major carrying a $1,250,000 prize pool. Any ruling from Valve would need to arrive before the invite cut-off. Qualified teams must then confirm all roster details by 6 November and submit tournament items by 9 November.
