Sentinels confirmed the signing of duelist Francis "OXY" Hoang on 2 November, the first day the VCT off-season transfer window opened, according to Esports.net News.

The move ends weeks of reporting linking the former Cloud9 player to the organisation and gives Sentinels the opening piece of its rebuild for the 2027 cycle.

The transfer was shaped by Riot Games' partnership decisions for the next cycle. Sentinels was named among the eight Americas partners for 2027–2028, while Cloud9 was not given a slot, according to Esports.net News.

Riot selected 32 partner organisations overall, split evenly across the Americas, EMEA, Pacific and China regions, from a pool of more than 100 teams that submitted interest.

Partnerships run on renewable two-year terms and come with annual financial support, but a slot does not guarantee a route into international events on its own.

Partner teams qualify directly for VCT Kickoff. Beyond that, they have to earn places at Cups, Masters and Champions through results, competing for those spots against teams that progress via Open Qualifiers.

For OXY, Sentinels offered both a partnered platform and an immediate role. He takes over the duelist position that the club had vacated only days before his arrival.

Sentinels' off-season overhaul began on 30 October, when the organisation announced that Jerrwin and JonahP were departing in its first roster moves of the window.

CEO Rob Moore said both players had been given notice of their coming free agency as far back as 15 September, and that the club had already identified replacements it rated as S-tier, Esports.net News reported.

OXY now joins johnqt, Reduxx and cortezia on the roster, with manager Bryan "Zyto" Ybanez remaining in place. One player spot is still open, meaning Sentinels cannot yet field a full starting five.

The rebuild follows a difficult 2026 season for the organisation. Sentinels went 2-3 in Group Omega during Stage 1, finishing 9th–10th and narrowly missing the playoffs.

Stage 2 brought an identical 2-3 record and a 7th–8th finish, sending the team into the Play-Ins, where its season ended on 22 August with a 0-2 loss to KRÜ Esports.

Cloud9 now faces a tougher route into international competition. As a non-partner under the new format, the organisation must reach VCT events through the Open Qualifiers path rather than a guaranteed Kickoff berth.

Sentinels' remaining roster vacancy is the next move to watch in the Americas, with VCT Kickoff scheduled for January 2027, according to Dot Esports.
