2xplayN hit with lifetime CS2 ban after cash boast ends ESIC leniency
Palkovics 'Tamás' 2xplayN saw a three-year suspension turned into a lifetime ban from ESIC after posting images of cash and references to a 2029 return following the NOMERCY match-fixing probe.

The Esports Integrity Commission has converted a three-year competitive suspension handed to Counter-Strike 2 player Palkovics 'Tamás' 2xplayN into a lifetime ban, according to Esports.net News.
ESIC confirmed the escalation on 16 October, a day after it sanctioned five players from NOMERCY over an investigation into suspicious results and a wager carrying a potential payout above $4.5 million.
That $4.5 million figure represents what the bet could theoretically have returned, not a sum that reached anyone's pocket. The bookmaker is reported to have voided the wager before any payout was issued.
Esports.net's reporting does not place either 2xplayN or his former NOMERCY teammate Oliver 'kzy' Heck in possession of betting proceeds from that accumulator.
The underlying case concerns four NOMERCY defeats recorded at Roman Imperium Cup VII in March 2026. When ESIC first announced sanctions on 15 October, 2xplayN's penalty was a three-year exclusion from ESIC-affiliated events, due to expire in April 2029.
The ban did not last a full day in that form. Shortly afterwards, 2xplayN posted an image on X appearing to show multiple stacks of cash alongside a comment about his planned return to competition in 2029.
ESIC responded on 16 October, stating that his public posts referenced apparent cash, match manipulation and betting payouts, and that this amounted to a serious breach creating the appearance of improper conduct.
The commission was careful to note that the photographs themselves did not prove the money pictured had any connection to match-fixing.
ESIC explained that the original three-year ban had reflected 2xplayN's cooperation during the investigation, including the provision of financial records and detailed answers to investigators. It said his later conduct meant that reduction could no longer stand.
The wager under scrutiny was an accumulator built around the four Roman Imperium Cup VII matches, with the potential payout exceeding $4.5 million before it was reportedly voided.
ESIC said it intends to refer the sanctioned conduct to Valve, unnamed government agencies and law enforcement. No timetable or outcome has been disclosed for those referrals, meaning this stage remains a planned next step rather than a confirmed legal process.
The lifetime ban removes 2xplayN from any involvement in ESIC and member competitions, not merely from playing rosters.
This penalty follows a separate lifetime ban already issued to kzy as part of the original investigation; the two sanctions were handed down at different points rather than simultaneously.
The case sits within broader scrutiny of betting-linked integrity breaches in Counter-Strike, an area that has previously drawn restrictions around skin trading and sponsorship arrangements.
For 2xplayN, the practical outcome is straightforward: any route back to competition by 2029 is now closed under ESIC's ruling, with the next confirmed development being the commission's referral of the matter to Valve and relevant authorities.
