The Esports Integrity Commission has issued a lifetime ban to Counter-Strike 2 player Oliver 'kzy' Heck following an investigation into match manipulation at Roman Imperium Cup VII, Dexerto Esports reported.

Heck, formerly of MOUZ, was one of five NOMERCY players sanctioned over the team's run at the March tournament. His four teammates received bans ranging between three and five years, according to ESIC's October 15 announcement cited by Dexerto.

The case centres on four NOMERCY matches played on March 28, all of which the team lost heavily. Combined across games against BetBoom, Sangal, BESTIA and Wildcard, NOMERCY won just five rounds in total, with their opponents closing out 13-0, 13-3, 13-1 and 13-1 scorelines.

Those results drew scrutiny after a screenshot began circulating of a roughly $57,000 accumulator bet staked on NOMERCY suffering exactly these kinds of blowouts, with the combined wager carrying a potential return of more than $4.5 million, per Dexerto's reporting.

ESIC's investigators said betting monitoring had flagged a single large combination bet riding on NOMERCY's opponents covering a 9.5-round handicap in all four fixtures that day. Every one of the four results cleared that margin, with each opposing team winning by ten rounds or more.

To build the case, ESIC said it examined match footage, betting-market data, individual player performance and whatever financial records and communications it could access. That review turned up recurring lapses in trading, utility usage, positioning and in-game decision-making from NOMERCY players, though the commission was careful to note that no isolated error on its own proved manipulation.

Heck was found to have taken part in match manipulation and corrupt in-game conduct, and in facilitating that conduct among others. ESIC pointed to his role as in-game leader, his control over map vetoes, and what it described as a total lack of cooperation with the investigation as reasons his punishment went beyond his teammates'.

James8k and perakokanje were each handed five-year suspensions, running until 23 April 2031. 2xplayN and srtn1 received three-year bans, expiring 23 April 2029, with ESIC noting that their willingness to cooperate with investigators worked in their favour when sanctions were decided.

The money behind the bet is understood never to have been paid out. Dexerto reported that RTP Arena said the bookmaker involved voided the wager, with the tournament organiser confirming that account. ESIC's published findings stop short of naming who placed the bet, and do not state that Heck personally received any winnings from it.

The bans apply across ESIC-affiliated and member-supported competitions and are not limited to playing careers. They also prevent the sanctioned individuals from working in coaching, management, analysis or other participatory roles within covered events for the duration of their suspensions.
