KRÜ Blaze erase opening-map deficit to eliminate Shopify Rebellion Gold

KRÜ Blaze beat Shopify Rebellion Gold 3-1 in the lower bracket final of the VCT Game Changers Championship 2026 on Saturday 31 October, according to Esports Insider, overturning an opening-map loss to book their place in Sunday's grand final.

Shopify Rebellion Gold took the first map in 47 minutes. KRÜ Blaze responded by levelling the series on the quickest map of the night, finished in 37 minutes, then moved ahead with a 50-minute third map. The fourth and decisive map ran to 70 minutes, the longest of the evening, before KRÜ Blaze closed out the series without needing a fifth map.

The result reverses the outcome of the pair's previous meeting. That upper bracket semi-final, played on 27 October, finished 2-0 to Shopify Rebellion Gold, a defeat that dropped KRÜ Blaze into the lower bracket in the first place.

A 2-1 win over Gen.G GC in the upper bracket quarter-finals had been KRÜ Blaze's first playoff result, before the defeat to Shopify Rebellion Gold pushed them into the lower bracket. Since then they have not dropped a series: a 2-0 sweep of Team Liquid Brazil in the lower bracket quarter-finals, a 2-0 sweep of MIBR GC in the semi-finals, and now the win over Shopify Rebellion Gold. That run leaves them having won seven of the eight maps played since falling into the lower bracket, per Esports Insider's reporting.

The Argentine-based side also arrived at the championship as winners of the Latin America regional final, having beaten Akave Esports Black 3-1 to qualify.

For Shopify Rebellion Gold, the loss ends a campaign that had looked strong earlier in the week. A 2-0 victory over SK Nebula had taken them through the upper bracket quarter-finals, continuing form built on two series wins against FlyQuest RED during the North America Stage 2 competition. Their form turned in the upper bracket final, where Gentle Mates GC beat them 2-1 to take the direct route into the championship decider. Saturday's defeat to KRÜ Blaze means Shopify Rebellion Gold finish the event on back-to-back series losses.

KRÜ Blaze now face Gentle Mates GC in the final on Sunday 1 November, the closing day of the VCT Game Changers Championship 2026. Gentle Mates GC remain unbeaten through the playoffs: a 2-0 sweep of MIBR GC in the upper bracket semi-finals preceded the win that put them into the decider.

The power rankings going into the lower bracket final had favoured Shopify Rebellion Gold, who were ranked 10th globally with a rating of 1782 compared with KRÜ Blaze's 20th-place rating of 1742. KRÜ Blaze's overall record of 63 wins from 84 rated matches was nonetheless the stronger of the two sides' recent form, Esports Insider noted.
