MVK Esports Force Decider With Karmine Corp For Final Worlds Play-In Spot
MVK Esports beat FURIA 3-1 to set up a Sunday rematch with Karmine Corp, who swept them 3-0 just a day earlier, with the Swiss Stage berth on the line.

MVK Esports have earned a second shot at Karmine Corp after fighting back from a lower-bracket position to beat FURIA 3-1 in the League of Legends World Championship Play-In on Saturday, 17 October, according to Esports.net News, which cited reports from Field Level Media and GosuGamers.
The win sets up an immediate rematch against the French side, who had swept MVK 3-0 just a day earlier on Friday, 16 October. There is no cushion built into the format: whichever team wins Sunday's final-round match takes the last available place at the Swiss Stage, while the loser is eliminated.
MVK had already faced FURIA once before, beating the Brazilian side 3-0 in the opening round on Thursday, 15 October. The rematch proved far tighter, with FURIA taking a game off MVK before the Vietnamese side closed out the series.
MVK dominated the opening two maps, winning Game 1 in 31 minutes and Game 2 in 27. FURIA hit back to stay alive, taking Game 3 in 36 minutes, but MVK responded immediately, sealing the series with a 28-minute win in Game 4.
Ngo "Kratos" Khanh was named series MVP after a 13-8-25 kill-death-assist line. Teammate Nguyen "Harky" Van Huu finished 22-11-24, while FURIA's Andrey "Ayu" Saraiva top-fragged for his side with 18 kills across the series.
GosuGamers reported that jungler Lương Hải "Gury" Long's performance on Wukong was key to setting up team fights in the decisive fourth game, a detail that points to a closer contest than the eventual 3-1 scoreline suggests.
Sunday's meeting with Karmine Corp carries extra weight given the earlier sweep. Having already put MVK one match from elimination once, Karmine Corp now stand as the only team between MVK and Swiss Stage qualification, while MVK's task is to reverse the result of their first encounter.
The Swiss Stage is scheduled to run in Allen, Texas, from 23 to 31 October, with the knockout stage following from 3 November. The grand final is set for 14 November at the Barclays Center in New York, with the tournament offering a total prize pool of $5 million and $1 million earmarked for the eventual champion.
For MVK, the focus before Sunday's decider is narrower than the broader tournament picture: finding a way past Karmine Corp after Friday's straight-sets defeat, with the Swiss Stage place going directly to the winner.
