Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage draw set as Karmine Corp claim last spot

Eight best-of-one openers launch the Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage on 23 October, with Karmine Corp completing the 16-team field after a 3-0 sweep of MVK Esports.

2023 League of Legends World Championship Swiss Stage

The Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage opens on 23 October with eight best-of-one matches, the first step in a 16-team race for eight Knockout Stage places, according to Esports.net.

Three wins secure qualification and a third loss ends a team's run, with every opening winner moving to 1-0 and every loser to 0-1.

The Play-In has now concluded and the full main-event field is set, Esports.net reported.

The opening slate pairs Gen.G against Invictus Gaming, Team Liquid Alienware against CTBC Flying Oyster, Anyone's Legend against Karmine Corp, G2 Esports against Dplus KIA, Hanwha Life Esports against Top Esports, LØS against T1, Team Secret Whales against LYON, and Bilibili Gaming against Movistar KOI.

The draw splits the 16 teams into four pools, pitting Pool 1 against Pool 4 and Pool 2 against Pool 3, with teams from the same region barred from meeting in Round 1.

After the opening results, the field will be redrawn by record, grouping the 1-0 teams together and the 0-1 teams together for Round 2. From that point, any match that can confirm qualification or elimination shifts to a best-of-three, while other fixtures stay best-of-one, Esports.net reported.

The exact match order and full schedule had not been finalised at the time of that report, leaving 23 October confirmed only as the start date rather than a guarantee of when individual ties will play.

Karmine Corp secured the tournament's final Swiss Stage berth by beating MVK Esports 3-0 in a Round 4 decider in Los Angeles, Esports Insider reported, with mid laner kyeahoo named MVP of the series.

It marks the French organisation's first appearance at a Worlds Swiss Stage and makes them Europe's third representative in the main event.

Their path there was far from smooth. KC opened the Play-In on 15 October against Cloud9 and needed all five games to advance, a result that nearly ended their tournament before it began. They beat MVK in Round 2 on 16 October, sending the Vietnamese side to the lower bracket, only for MVK to fight back with a 3-1 win over FURIA in Round 3 on 17 October. FURIA had themselves knocked out Cloud9 by the same scoreline the previous day, setting up the rematch between KC and MVK in the decider.

The four-team Play-In bracket was double-elimination, with every match played as a best-of-five under Fearless Draft. Jungler Yike told Hotspawn that he felt the team was playing at around 80% of its peak level heading out of the bracket.

KC's Round 1 Swiss Stage opponent, LPL first seed Anyone's Legend, is not unfamiliar territory: the French side beat them at the Esports World Cup in Paris this summer, a result head coach Reapered referenced when discussing the draw, per Esports Insider. On the official broadcast after the draw, Yike also flagged Bilibili Gaming, who have eliminated him at his two previous Worlds appearances, and Team Liquid, who beat KC at MSI, as teams he is targeting.

Worlds 2026 runs until 14 November with a total prize pool of US$5,000,000, Esports Insider reported.
