G2 Esports cuts ties with Perkz over anti-abortion remarks in X post
G2 Esports has ended its collaboration with head coach Luka "Perkz" Perković days after he published a lengthy post that included comments calling abortion murder, sparking backlash from across the League of Legends scene.

G2 Esports has terminated its contract with head coach Luka "Perkz" Perković, days after he published a wide-ranging post on X that triggered significant criticism, Esports.gg News reported.
The organisation confirmed the split on Thursday 5 November in a statement attributed to CEO Alban Dechelotte.
"We acknowledge that [Perkz' statement] hurt many of our fans, and we want to apologize for it," the statement read. "As a result, we have decided to terminate our collaboration with [Perkz]."
Perkz had been with G2's League of Legends coaching staff since July, stepping into the head coach role shortly after Dylan Falco's departure. G2 said a rebuild of its coaching staff and roster will now follow, which Esports.gg News noted aligns with separate rumours that the organisation was already planning roster changes.
Perkz published the post on 4 November, calling it the only fully honest statement he had made in ten years and explaining that his goal was to set straight a number of narratives he believed were untrue.
Among its contents, Perkz wrote that he is Catholic and framed abortion in stark terms. "I cannot comprehend how people do not understand that [abortion] is a murder, as life is created at conception," he wrote.
That section drew the heaviest backlash and became the central reason for his departure. Host Laure Valée responded, "Our body, OUR choice, that's it." She added, "Never give in to shame and judgment for a decision that is deeply and rightfully yours, and strength to those who sometimes have to make decisions that can be heart-wrenching."
Eefje "Sjokz" Depoortere addressed the controversy indirectly in a TikTok, saying "sometimes, saying nothing is better than saying something."
Elsewhere in the post, Perkz sought to distance himself from Andrew and Tristan Tate, stating he "does not like, support, or stand with" them and that he hates most of their views.
He also revisited his 2022 defence of former G2 CEO Carlos "ocelote" Rodríguez, who faced criticism after footage emerged of him socialising with Andrew Tate. Perkz said he backed Rodríguez at the time because Rodríguez had "believe in me when nobody else did." He went on to allege that, once he himself was pushed out of G2, Rodríguez cut off contact with him for three days, a silence he described as cowardly.
On his second stint at G2 and the team's Worlds 2026 exit, Perkz wrote that he returned to "a broken and dysfunctional team, with a lot of trauma and trust issues," and said he had tried to address those problems without creating further distress among players and staff.
He also said he felt thrown under the bus by how G2 had handled the announcement of his return, which came in early July when he took over the head coach position from Falco shortly after signing.
Perkz closed the post by telling readers to enjoy the offseason's narratives.
